The Foundation assisted a group of Sugar Hill/Franconia residents, surrounding communities, and the Lincoln and Woodstock Police Departments in coordinating numerous fundraising events to assist the Jose Pequeno family. Jose Pequeno, who was the Police Chief of Sugar Hill and a National Guardsman, was severely wounded while serving in Iraq in 2006.

Corporal Bruce McKay

The Foundation was utilized by the family of Corporal Bruce McKay, who was killed in the line of duty while serving as a police officer for the Town of Franconia. The Foundation assisted with the public funeral ceremony and the coordination of various benefits. Donations to the Foundation helped fund Corporal McKay’s public funeral and support the financial future of his young daughter, Courtney.


Whitefield EMT

The Foundation assisted Whitefield Fire & Rescue with helping one of their Firefighter/EMTs, who lost her house and its contents in a terrible fire. The Fire Department held fundraisers to assist with immediate needs. The Foundation provided guidance to the Fire Department and aided the firefighter through the complicated process of establishing contracting for a new home and refinancing. She and her two children are now settled into their new home.


Sergeant Gerald Berry

The Foundation assisted the State Police in seeking donations to help the family of Sergeant Gerald Berry, who died from cancer at the age of 47. Donations were utilized to fund the public funeral, complete the in-process project of building a barn, and establish a fund for the secondary education of his son.


Woodsville Firefighter

Dan Jock, a 25-year-old Woodsville volunteer firefighter with three small children, had a cancerous mass between his heart and lung. He endured numerous treatments and surgery, and was an inspiration to all. Unfortunately, Dan succumbed to the disease and passed away on April 4, 2012. Under the umbrella of the Foundation, a substantial amount of money was raised to assist with the family’s living expenses through various fundraisers and the generosity of many.


Haverhill Police Officer

The Foundation assisted a Haverhill, NH, Police Officer whose family was facing a medical crisis. The foundation assisted with accommodations near the hospital during the crisis. In addition, the Lebanon Police and Fire Departments reached out to the police officer and his family to provide any assistance needed during their stay in Lebanon.


Pittsburg Police Officer/Firefighter

In June of 2013, a fire destroyed the home of Rick Dube and his family. Rick is a longtime Pittsburg Firefighter and also serves as a police officer and a correctional officer. The Pittsburgh Firefighters’ Association took the lead in raising funds to assist the Dube family, and the Foundation contributed to the efforts.


Woodsville Firefighter/Paramedic

Steve Robbins, Chief of Woodsville EMS, whose family has been active in Fire and EMS for generations, was riding with his wife and the Red Knights (a motorcycle group of firefighters) after visiting National Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, when he and his wife were hit head-on, suffering multiple fractures. The Foundation assisted the community with raising funds to accommodate their home for wheelchair access and to assist with daily expenses.


Beecher Falls, VT, Firefighter

Although located in Vermont, Beecher Falls Fire Department regularly responds to Coos County of New Hampshire, and accordingly is qualified to receive assistance from the Foundation. One of their firefighters was severely burned at his home. Beecher Falls has held numerous fundraisers and made a grant to assist the family.


Lincoln Firefighters and Bath Police Officer

Lincoln Fire Department Lt. and Grafton County Dispatcher Mike Weden, Lincoln Fire Captain Steve Bomba, and Bath Police Officer Greg Collins were involved in a crash on returning from a Police Academy graduation on August 19, 2016. Captain Bomba died on the scene, and Lt. Weden and Officer Collins suffered numerous fractures and multi-trauma injuries. The Foundation serves as custodian trustee of a scholarship fund in Captain Bomba’s memory; and assisted with fundraising and construction of an addition and ADA-compliant bathroom for Lt. Weden’s home, and an ADA-compliant bathroom to Officer Collins’s home.
